So, if I am being honest...beach weddings are not my favorite. Not in Florida at least. I'm seen some pretty ones, but usually they are very "beachy". Shells all over, bright colors, jars with sand, flip flop cookies, etc. You get the picture. I have a whole Pinterest board full of inspiration for weddings by the water I adore, but for some reason, even though I live in FLORIDA (hello.......BEACHES!) I've yet to find a beach wedding I love.
This inspired me to do a project. So I found an amazing photographer who also did not like beach weddings ha ha, and we put together a beach wedding that we loved. So what was different? EVERYTHING! Instead of the colorful navy & pink, coral & teal, etc weddings. Our color palette was dull grays and white. No color. Why? I realized I actually love seeing the textures of a beach. The way the light hits sea oats. How the white sand, water and the horizon almost blend together. The contrast of seaweed washed up upon the shore or natural contrast like drift wood or rocks. I wanted our shoot to flow naturally with the environment, be organic and blend with the surroundings not compete with it. We also choose to avoid too much "beachy" decor. There were a couple shells, but that was it. My memories of the beach were times when I just sat there, relaxed, let the cares of the world sail away with the breeze. Peaceful, calm, and soft. My goal was to capture these things.
I feel like we succeeded! I could not have been more happy with the results, which was the result of an amazing team of professionals. The florals from Oh Darling Events were beautiful! Romantic and full of texture. The calligraphy from Gracefully Lauren was spot on and perfect! Everything was just as I pictured it, and Emily captured it all flawlessly!
